Skates, Speeches, and Stand‑Up Moments • Best 60ish Seconds
In this week’s Best 60ish Seconds, Charlie tips his cap to Team USA as the Olympic flame goes out in Milan–Cortina and before it’s lit again in France’s Alps in 2030. He congratulates the U.S. men’s hockey team on its dramatic 2–1 overtime gold‑medal win over Canada, the women’s team on their own gold, and all of Team USA for a stellar Games.
He then reflects on Tuesday night’s State of the Union, saying we still have a lot of work to do on the economy, but it’s finally coming back from the debacle of the Biden administration and moving in the right direction under President Trump. Charlie criticizes Democrats’ behavior in the chamber, including Rep. Green’s expulsion and Rep. Tlaib’s “KKK” chant.
A defining moment of the night came when President Trump declared that we should “protect citizens, not illegal immigrants” and called on members to stand if they agreed. Charlie applauds both of Pennsylvania’s senators for standing—literally and figuratively—for the right thing, noting it was especially significant to see Democratic Sen. John Fetterman take that stand as well.
