Lobsters, Lineups, and Leadership • Best 60ish Seconds
In this week’s Best 60ish Seconds, Charlie sarcastically begins by observing “what a week of global warming this has been” as an historic Arctic blast and bitter cold blanket much of the country, with dangerous temperatures expected to stick around into Groundhog Day and beyond. He briefly notes the Free Iran movement before paying tribute to Virginia Oliver, Maine’s beloved “Lobster Lady,” who worked the lobster boats for decades and passed away this week at the age of 105.
On a happier note, he reminds viewers that we’re now under 50 days from March Madness, pitchers and catchers will soon report for spring training, the Super Bowl is just eight days away, and the Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina, Italy, are fast approaching.
With all that excitement on the horizon, Charlie pivots back to Pennsylvania to critique Governor Josh Shapiro’s ongoing campaigning and national ambitions. In closing, Charlie shares Ronald Reagan’s January 28, 1986 address to the nation after the Challenger explosion—a model of presidential strength, empathy, and faith in the American spirit.
