Charlie checks in from the road this week, with Election Day just days away and plenty riding on the outcome.
First, he turns to his native Brazil, sharing his disappointment with the presidential election result and his concerns for his friend Flávio Bolsonaro. He also looks at Israel, where an unsettled election leaves the difficult work of building a governing coalition ahead.
Back home, Charlie returns to Pennsylvania’s pivotal congressional races and the fight to keep a Republican House majority. His warning: electing Democrats who campaign as moderates could put Congress in the hands of a much more liberal leadership.
On a happier note, congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers on their first World Series championship. Even a disappointed Phillies fan can appreciate a team finally bringing home the trophy.
Charlie closes with warm wishes for All Saints Day and a prayer for loved ones remembered on All Souls Day. May they rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon them.
